Details | The next meeting of the Mid-Sussex Franco-British Society will feature a talk by Elspeth Broady entitled Bruxelles. A personal, historical, and socio-cultural presentation of this often cursed, mistreated city that is much less known to the British than its neighbouring capitals, Paris and Amsterdam. A city that, in principle, should not ‘exist,’ let alone have acquired such geopolitical importance—given its original construction on marshland and later, its geographical situation as an enclave within Flanders (Dutch-speaking) with a population that is 75% French-speaking. All members and visitors are most welcome. |
Cost | Visitor's fee is £5 (students £2) payable at the door |
