On Monday 26th October, families of children with SEND (special education needs and disabilities) are invited to join for the Family Fun Sessions at The King’s Church. There will be activities for the children to get involved in and information services for parents and carers to chat to! Running 12.30-2pm and 2.30-4pm, you will be joined by: Early Help, the NHS Oral Health team, and West Sussex Talking Therapies. Burgess Hill Youth will be running a sand art activity, as well as be available to talk about their Young Carers Fun Days.Author Sally Simms will be reading a book from her Heartkin series, capturing an autistic world in monster form! Makaton Jenny will be teaching Makaton signs alongside the reading. The Heartkin books are available to purchase via Amazon ahead of the sessions, with Sally available to sign copies during the sessions*. There will be games and crafts, organised by The King’s Church, as well as an inflatable assault course, and Trackmaster Sussex will be returning with their ever-popular giant train track set up! Artist James from the Comic Club will also be attending with an art activity for older children. It is free to attend but spaces must be booked in advance. The sessions are aimed at ages 3-18, with priority given to those living in Burgess Hill and the surrounding villages. Please note under 16’s must be accompanied by a parent or carer at all times. Anyone over 16 who is able to attend the event space without the need of parent or carer support may do so, but a responsible adult must remain onsite for the duration of the event. We are unfortunately unable to provide any individuals with independent support at the event. *Books will NOT be available to purchase during the sessions.
